He still lives there today, and it was his development firm that secured the land for Intel to nab the mega-deal at the last minute.<br/><br/>When Wexner stepped down from L Brands and out of the spotlight in 2020 amid scrutiny over his relationship with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, many may have thought the retail mogul, now 86, was retiring after nearly six decades to quietly enjoy his billions. But, it turns out, he was just getting started. As new reporting by Forbes reveals, when local leaders didn’t have a site that fit the ultra specific conditions needed for chip production, which include access to millions of gallons of water a day, they reached out to Wexner’s New Albany Company. _antiques-roadshow-expert-restores-former-chapel-he-bought-for-60k.webp "An Antiques Roadshow expert has bought a former chapel for 60K to convert into a home and workshop - and is calling on others to ‘save these historic structures’.<br/><br/>Wayne Colquhoun, 60, bought Capel Salem in Corris in Wales - which still had a pulpit with a Bible in.<br/><br/>He says he fell in love with the 1868 romantic slate structure which had fallen into disrepair.<br/><br/>The Grade II listed chapel upkeep became too expensive for the diminishing congregation and was on the market in 2017. <br/><br/>Across Wales, chapels fall into the landscape through disrepair, demolition or ‘insensitive conversion’.<br/><br/>He bought the chapel for £60k, transforming the upper gallery into a three-bed apartment, adding floorboards covering half the gallery.<br/><br/>Wayne said: “When I bought it the bible was still on the pulpit, as though the congregation had walked out and closed the door.<br/><br/>“When people close the doors on old buildings- that’s the danger point. It gets damp and dry rot sets in.<br/><br/>“These historic structures are evocative of Welsh history and have to be saved - we need people who will put their heart and soul into them because it’s easy to butcher conversions.”<br/><br/>He aims to maintain the lower space and Canadian pitch pine panelling for use as his Antiques and Fine Art shop, moved from Liverpool, plus a pottery and sculpture workshop.<br/><br/>He aims to keep as many original features of the property as possible, from its single-glazed arched windows to reusing the pews as kitchen work surfaces.<br/><br/>Nearby, three chapels closest to Capel Salem have closed permanently to worship.<br/><br/>Wayne is in the process of transforming the lower level into his antiques and fine art shop. <br/><br/>He hopes to hold talks and workshops in the space, aiming to build up to employing locals and 'giving back' to the community.<br/><br/>Just 500 feet away sits Holy Trinity Church which closed its doors in 2020 not through lack of attendance, but through disrepair.<br/><br/>Neil Sumner chair of Welsh Religious Buildings Trust wrote that the redundancy of chapels in Wales is due to a 19th century ‘expansionist fervour’ of Nonconformist Chapels (i.e. Baptists, Congregationalists, Methodists).<br/><br/>In 1800 Caernarfonshire there were 30 chapels, rising to 221 in 1851, representing a 700 per cent increase.<br/><br/>Combining this flurry of builds with the 20th-century fall in attendance, Sumner wrote “the result is there are now too many buildings for current needs”.<br/><br/>In an attempt to preserve the character of the increasing chapel conversions, historic environment service Cadw has issued guidelines including keeping the front of the chapels untouched, retaining rooms with self-supporting partitions and allowing ‘characteristic features to show through the new walls and floors’.<br/><br/>Meanwhile the Buildings Trust attempt to conserve Welsh chapels through fundraising and management.<br/><br/>After leaving school Wayne went on to become a specialist in the restoration of historic and listed buildings. <br/><br/>Wayne has run an art gallery for over two decades and is an indepe")

_couple39s-getaway-ruined-after-caravan-was-so-dirty-they-had-to-clean-it-themselves.webp "A couple say their romantic getaway was ruined after the holiday caravan was so dirty they had to clean it themselves - and the furniture broke when they used it. <br/><br/>Charmaine Bell, 30, and Natalie Berrisford, 37, splashed out £615 for what was supposed to be nice break.<br/><br/>But they say the holiday to Norfolk was ruined by the “dirt pit” caravan - which they say had wallpaper hanging off the walls, mold in the loo and a mucky fridge.<br/><br/>They say the sofas in the property were full of “hard lumps” and the bed slats were so broken they were left sleeping at an angle.<br/><br/>Despite complaining to the holiday company, 2C Holidays, they say they had to stay in the “filthy” caravan for nine nights. <br/><br/>Charmaine, from Royston, Herts., said: “It's really upset me and my partner, we’ve been together 13 years and thought we’d have a nice holiday with the dogs. <br/><br/>“From the second we got to the caravan and walked in it was dirty. <br/><br/>“There was wallpaper coming away from walls, mold in the corners of the room and under the lid of the toilet, the sides were dirty, and the fridge had sticky stuff in it, it was filthy. <br/><br/>“The sofas had really big hard lumps in bottom of them - every time we sat down, we were sat on an angle.” <br/><br/>The couple arrived in Hemsby for a romantic getaway on March 6 – but say as soon as they walked into the caravan at the holiday park they found it filthy.<br/><br/>They say they were looking forwards to spending quality time together with their dogs, with Nathalie travelling down from Scotland for the trip.<br/><br/>But they say when they complained to 2C Holidays about the conditions, they were told they could clean it themselves or spend another £300 to be upgraded to a new caravan. <br/><br/>Charmaine said she decided to clean herself – and says the company offered her £50 for her efforts. <br/><br/>The couple say at the end of their stay they were offered £75 compensation – but claim after the £50 for cleaning, this leaves just £25 for their inconvenience.<br/><br/>“We couldn't pay out for a new caravan, there was literally nowhere else we could go, so it was very upsetting,” said Charmaine.<br/><br/>“Nathalie had a serious back surgery a couple of years ago and she nearly went through the bed. <br/><br/>“She came down from Scotland and this happened, it was just so upsetting, we were literally trapped there.” <br/><br/>A spokesperson for 2C Holidays said: \")
